Please reblog this and spread it like wildfire. There are millions of BOLLYWOOD lovers on and off tumblr. And BOLLYWOOD deserves its own Tumblr directory. Its high time.
Viva la Revolucion, my lovely fellow Bollywood fans.
The more reblogs, notes this gets, the more likely it is that Tumblr will take notice.
So please, please, REBLOG.
:D Namaskar / Namaskaramandi! Keep an eye on VisionsOfHotliness.tumblr.com too, where I shall try and bring the pretty.
Just as in Egypt, protests have started in Yemen as well, to try and oust the president of 32 years, who just so happened to eliminate term limitations the year he was due to leave. Protesters in Yemen are wearing pink to symbolize their desire to avoid violence. Thus far, it seems to be working; no violent confrontations have broken out between the protesters (who are singing and chanting) and the police (who are out in force but are just watching).
Prayers for a peaceful resolution…I hope the people get what they want.
This is how the conversation went:
Me: Mujhe dishes wash karna chahiye.
Teacher: Aapne dishes abhi nahin wash kiya?
Me: Ji nahin. Main subeh gayi, nachne ke liye. Mujhko aaj shaam dishes wash karna padega.
(Me: I have to wash the dishes.
Teacher: You haven’t washed the dishes yet?
Me: No. I went out dancing this morning. I’ll have to wash the dishes tonight.)
I like the fact that in Hindi, I go out dancing in the morning, and I don’t know how to wash the dishes.
Always learning, always making mistakes, never growing up.

A group of filmi bloggers and assorted enthusiasts like myself participated in a ‘Secret Santa’, organised again this year by Beth over at Beth Loves Bollywood. Thanks, Beth! :)
Many thanks to my Secret Santa, the lovely Shweta over at the Apni East India Company blog for her generous gift to me! She clearly knows what (and whom) I like!
And for those who don’t know, the theme song is where I get my Twitter and Tumblr handle, @kalikaliankhen!

I went to an Indian film festival in Melbourne in around 2003 and I believe my first Indian movie was Ashoka, followed within a day or two by Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. I liked Ashoka, because it was dramatic and sexy and introduced me to SRK, and guyliner, and the filmi symbolism of waterfalls, and I based my first bollywood party costume on one of Bebo’s costumes, complete with a brown felt-tip-pen mehendi necklace.
But then I watched and loved DDLJ because of its sheer sense of exuberance and fun. Simran dreamed of romance, and danced in the rain, and struggled every day with the conflict between being a modern NRI college graduate and a traditional desi daughter. Raj was so playful and mischievous, and was always kidding around, except when he wasn’t and was instead doing that SRK thing with the eyes that seems to make lady onlookers melt :D
I haven’t really stopped watching Indian movies since!
Melbourne Indian film fanatics can rejoice about a little-advertised new Indian Melbourne Festival running 27 December 2010 to 2 January 2011! Boasting movies from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi film industries, this is the first Indian film festival in a long time that has attempted to screen popular films from so many regions of India in Melbourne. We are so lucky! Click the link to visit the IMFF website!
It’s kinda Hindi-related, and it’s very festive-looking! Happy holiday season and a bright and blingy 2011, lovely peeps! :D

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. And then, one not-so-very special day, I went to my typewriter, I sat down, and I wrote our story. A story about a time, a story about a place, a story about the people. But above all things, a story about love. A love that will live forever. The End.

This BBC Hindi article has it that Madhuri Dixit’s hubby is undertaking to ‘play the role of Ma’!
Madhuri, recently returned to India from her permanent home in the US with doctor husband Sriram Nene and their two kids, will be participating as a judge on a new reality show, Jhalak Dikhlaa Ja.
Apparently, Madhuri is excited (gaga, even) about her new role!
But, asks BBC Hindi: what arrangements for looking after her children? :(
Her absence from the home front* will be compensated by her husband playing the role of ‘Mr Mom’: ‘My husband will play the role of ‘Mr Mom’. He will look after the children’, says Madhuri.
The article says that Madhuri will stay nearly three months in India,
working on a new नृत्य आधारित रियलिटी शो - Nrtya aadhaarit riyaliTee sho (Dance-based reality show)
I LOVE a good नृत्य आधारित रियलिटी शो!
Upon being asked why she gave her agreement to the offer to do the show, Madhuri thought she could give guidance to a lot of up and coming people like this without connections in the dance world
That’s a nice thing Madhuri’s doing! Hope she enjoys her time working on the show.
Meanwhile, before appearing on the show, any really really young contestants or anyone who’s been living under a rock for the past fifteen years and who want to do well on Jhalak Dikhlaa Ja are advised that a little background research on their judges will go a long way!
Like this for example…(no pressure!)…Madhuri starts at around the 0:00:40 mark. Ignore the other bird, she’ll only distract you.
Jhalak Dikhlaa Ja premiered on Indian TV on 13 December!
* Or ‘ग़ैर मौजूदगी’, as the Hindi would have it, ’non-existence’. For goodness sake! That’s a little dramatic, don’t we think?!
